The Senior School will open with Years 7 and 8 (ages 11-13) on a purpose-built campus, designed to provide state-of-the-art facilities for secondary education. This new campus represents our commitment to expanding educational excellence in Vietnam, with plans for gradual growth through to IGCSE and IB Diploma Programme in subsequent years.

Full-time position starting as soon as possible for pre-opening preparation.

Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity to join the founding team of our new senior (secondary) school as Head of Secondary. This pivotal leadership role combines academic leadership with oversight of day-to-day operations, offering the unique chance to shape educational excellence from the school’s inception. The school is already established in the Primary phase. The position will play a crucial role in establishing school culture, academic programs, and student support systems during our founding year with Grades 6 and 7.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Design and implement foundational academic systems for Grades 6-7, ensuring scalability for future growth

• Create essential policies and procedures for academic success

• Establish and maintain a positive school culture that promotes academic excellence

• Lead the IB MYP authorization process as MYP coordinator

• Contribute to strategic planning for future growth and development

• Oversee the work of the Deputy Head of Secondary (Pastoral) and contribute to Pastoral Action Planning

Academic Leadership

• Oversee curriculum development and implementation across all subject areas

• Lead the development and documentation of MYP units and assessment practices

• Ensure vertical alignment with Primary Years Programme and prepare for future DP implementation

• Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning quality through regular observation and feedback

• Lead professional development initiatives

• Support the integration of Vietnamese language and culture into the curriculum

• Develop and implement assessment and reporting procedures

• Lead the development of teaching and learning policies

• Guide the integration of technology in teaching and learning

Staff Leadership & Development

• Support the recruitment, induction and retain high-quality teaching staff

• Implement staff professional development programs

• Conduct regular performance reviews

• Foster a collaborative professional culture

• Lead regular staff meetings and professional learning communities

• Mentor and support new teachers

• Create staff handbook and policies

Community & Culture

• Build strong partnerships with founding families

• Create effective communication systems with all stakeholders

• Lead parent education initiatives

• Foster a dual language learning environment

• Develop community-building events and initiatives

• Support marketing and admissions processes for senior school

• Represent the school at external events

• Leadership of extra-curricular activities

• Organisation of and participation in residential trips

Operational

• Act as the senior member of staff on campus on a day-to-day basis, dealing with problems in the short term.

Job requirements

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education & Certification

• Master’s degree in educational leadership or related field or NPQH/NPQSL (preferred)

• Teaching qualification

• IB MYP training and certification (preferred)

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of teaching experience including:

• Demonstrated excellence in curriculum development

• Experience with MYP authorization process (preferred)

• Previous leadership experience

• Start-up school experience (preferred)

Skills & Knowledge

• Deep understanding of MYP framework and philosophy

• Experience in policy development and implementation

• Excellent organizational and documentation skills

• Strong IT literacy and digital learning capabilities

• Outstanding communication skills

• Experience in building and leading teams

• Understanding of child protection and safeguarding

• Cultural awareness and sensitivity
